At Sapattu we live close to the land; we garden, growing most of our food; we walk the dog several times a day; and we feed birds summer and winter. Heat and cold, rain and sun, our daily routine changes as the seasons change.
Part of our spiritual discipline has become noting the changes we see on the land and the changes in our selves by celebrating the various seasonal holidays. The occasions we observe include Candlemas, Spring Equinox, Beltane, Summer Solstice, Lammas, Fall Equinox, Halloween, Winter Solstice.
Eight times a year we also to pause, take stock of our lives and reflect on the rhythm of the seasons. Those quiet days are times of "Seasonal Silence." We invite you to join us for those contemplative days.

physical plane. We tend
gardens, plant fields, and play in the great out-of-doors. We even lay in
sunny meadows and stretch out on sandy beaches as if to capture the
penetrating, life-giving rays of the sun. In the midst of our
flourish of activity, if we are observant nature also reminds us that all
things reach their fulfillment and then change.
Grasses and flowers only last so long. In our personal lives
what seems like decline may really be a deepening of understanding about
the real nature of living and dying. Decline
of one aspect of life is an opportunity to focus on different facet of our
lives. As we go about the
labor and recreation here are some questions that might take us below the
surface, questions that might be worthy of consideration:
